Tips for Discipleship
Here are a couple of tips for discipleship that you can start in your own home today!
1. Start your day off reading the Bible. Take 15 mins (to start) and read. I highly recommend Proverbs or Ecclesiastes for wisdom and tips on Godly living. If you can't read, use a Bible App to dictate to you.
2. On your work commute, pray out loud. (eyes open of course) I have found using the Lord's prayer as a guide to help me pray. For example, "Our Father who is in Heaven hallowed by thy name" - praise God for who He is and what He's done. "Thy Kingdom Come, they will be done" ask for His will in your life, for your kids etc... Use this model all the way through that prayer. (Matt 6:5-15)
3. If you are married, be purposeful to pray with your spouse each night.
4. Make a coffee date with a friend from church. Ask them how you can pray for them, find out what is going on with their life. Celebrate the things to celebrate and mourn together if there are reasons to mourn.
5. Find a life group. Connect with a group, even if it's once a month. Having a community of believers around you will strengthen and encourage you. It will also help you to pray for others. The Lord wants us to bear each others burdens.
